The only Twinax network solution based on pure TCP/IP –
for speed and reliability
Leverage your investment in Twinax.
- Work Fast. Pure TCP/IP drives your Twinax or Twinax Ethernet network.
- Easy to configure and maintain, and routable. Eliminates all SNA, AnyNet and MPTN traffic.
- Use all your existing Twinax display stations, printers (both IPDS and SCS), and cabling. No need to change your infrastructure.
- Don’t waste any time with installation. You will be amazed how easy installation of our hardware and software solution is.
- Remote management is via a Web browser, saving you valuable technical resources.
- Industry leading uptime and disaster recovery.
- The only pure TCP/IP Anynet alternative (MPTN).
- If you don't have peripheral devices and you are looking for an inexpensive way to connect PCs to your AS400 over Twinax--read about BOSaNOVA® Plus.
TCP/IP Intranet and Extranets and Internet Access
Designed to protect and enhance an organization's existing infrastructure, BOScom's Twinax connectivity solutions are available
for both Ethernet TCP/IP and SNA APPC networks. Use the e-Twinax family of complete hardware/software solutions to connect PCs
and terminals to one or more iSeries systems. Designed to optimize an organization's existing equipment, the e-Twinax solutions
also improve workstation performance. The e-Twinax family of products includes:
e-Twinax Controller
The e-Twinax Controller can be used either locally or remotely to support all Twinax display stations, printers (SCS and IPDS),
and existing cabling. The setup is easy for either the hardware or software solution. It eliminates all SNA, AnyNet and MPTN
traffic, leaving the network with a single TCP/IP protocol. Pure TCP/IP is routable, easy to configure, and easy to maintain.
For remote locations, it provides a secure, low cost connection to the host over the Internet, saving organizations thousands
of dollars each month in leased line costs. The e-TwinSt@r series enables direct connection of Twinax devices running over
CAT-5 (twisted pair) cabling. It replaces an active star hub and allows full utilization of all eight (or 16) RJ45 sockets.
The e-Twin@x Controller is OSV5R2 Certified and a 2003 APEX Award Winner. It was rated 3.79 (out of 4) in eServer Magazine,
iSeries edition, February, 2003, with the author noting, “e-Twinax Controller helps you preserve your hardware investment in
terminals and printers while you develop or expand your network infrastructure.”
e-TwinPrint
This device connects a lone Twinax printer to the TCP/IP network. It is easily configured and maintained via the Web, reducing
the support burden on IT staff. The reverse protocol converter provides Twinax as a printer host over TCP/IP.
BOSaNOVA® Plus
For SNA APPC client/server networks, BOScom offers a complete hardware/software solution, which includes a choice of adapter card
(PCI or ISA) and a suite of communications software that connects PCs and PC printers to iSeries hosts.
Native Plus
The Twinax adapter card connects PCs and PC printers to the iSeries over existing Twinax cabling for SNA APPC client/server
networks. This enables them to perform as enhanced iSeries terminals and printers. Bundled Native Plus software supports
Windows 3.x/95/98/NT APPC client software installed on the PC.
Twinax Connectivity
For many years, IBM AS/400 users have invested in Twinax infrastructure. This cabling system provided a simple and efficient method
of connecting PCs and terminals to the midrange host computer, although access was restricted to interaction with the host
computer only via the Twinax line.
All that changed when IBM released OS/400 V3R7, which supported the Telnet protocol (TN5250e), allowing terminal and printer
emulation over TCP/IP. This opened up new possibilities because it enabled Twinax devices to be connected to AS/400s via TCP/IP.
Today, the trend in networking is toward establishing Intranets and Extranets. When designing these systems, organizations may
choose to retain all or part of their investment in Twinax.
